With the files that i attach here is very easy to find the components on the PCB. I want to check the values of R7, R8, R12, R14, C3 on other units. If anyone there has one of this early tube drivers please post the guts.

But i would maybe change R14 and R12 to the old values and listen what happens. The new RI version is better than the old one regarding PWR Supply, noise etc. > C3: Was not identified on the guts pictures.

> R12: increased from 10k to 22k in the new RI Edition. Was this unit moded for lower gain tubes? "Tube Driver" can you please measure the bias voltage in both R7 and R8? > R7,R8: From the pictures the plate resistors look like 6,8k. Maybe 2,2k works better when one rolls off both the Bass and High a la Eric Johnson? Several people reported that the tone stack reacted different on the new version vs. > R14: On the new RI version it increased from 2,2k to 22k. The most significant differences compared to the new RI edition are: Just be careful with the Master Volume control, because these things have the ability to REALLY hit the front end of your amp hard! In fact, they can drive a speaker as about a 1-watt tube practice amp with GREAT TONE.As promised here is the schematic of the early tube driver traced from the guts posted on this thread. Butler s company at the time) was making the 5-knob Real Tube and Blue Tube pedals. This one has it's original (and wonderful) General Electric 12AX7's and they still test as better than new in my Hickock TV7 tester. The 3-knob version was an entry-level Tube Driver produced when Tube Works (B.K. There has never been a finer, more powerful actual tube overdrive pedal made. Oh, and there's the VERY powerful bass, middle, and treble controls as well as a very fender-like "bright" switch. for a total of FOUR tube gain stages in the Tube Driver it's only one! Plus, these operate at twice the voltage of the original Tube Drivers. These are often refereed to as the predecessor to the "Tube Driver", but they are really VERY different pedals.

This model is also the rarest, as it was only produces for a few months in 1981 before loosing the "Boogee" moniker. This one is from 1981, I personally feel this is the BEST model because it's still labeled "Boogee", and it's in the VERY Mesa-Boogie looking black-n-White color scheme. These things are legendary! There is lotsa chatter about these among serious players, but most folks have never even SEEN one in real life.īK Butler made only a few of these by hand from 1980-1981, then Randall Smith (Mesa-Boogie) asked him to use another name and in 1982-84 he made a few more labeled "Audio Matrix". I recently sold my stupidly rare Mini Boogee Pedal, but I made a little demo video before shipping her out. Hi gang! So this will be, for the most part a video blog.
